The Rage of Asmodai

I want to begin this review with a warning:

There are no Fallen in this audio drama!

I got bought this audio drama for one reason and one reason only. I thought it would have Cypher in it. If you’ve read the blurb on this story then you’ll know it reads: “the Relictors need to aid him in capturing the leader of the rebellion, a mysterious black-armoured Space Marine whose armour bears symbols similar to that of the Dark Angels themselves…”

Now I think I can be forgiven for thinking that they were talking about the Fallen, or if I was lucky, The Lord of the Fallen himself. But no such luck. I know this is technically spoiler territory, but I wish to prevent you from making the same mistake I did and wasting your money. The blurb on this story is criminally misleading.

On top of that, this audio drama does contain torture. It’s not too bad, but there are of course sound effects and it’s not for the faint hearted. I personally found it quite distressing.

So, if you like the Relictors, go for it. They do indeed play a key part in this audio drama.

If you really, really like the Dark Angels, particularly Asmodai, go for it.

Otherwise, I’d recommend giving this audio drama a miss. It’s got some cool action but nothing standout and I prefer battle scenes that aren’t intercut with torture porn.
