The Rage of Asmodai

Spoiler Review

Now I understand that there are some hardcore Relictors fans out there. And I don’t blame you, they’re a cool chapter. I also don’t blame you for wanting to soak up every bit of lore about them that you can get.

When it comes to torture, my stomach is not the strongest. But if you can handle that stuff, I dunno, maybe you found this story enjoyable. I personally spent most of the story just wondering what Asmodai was going to ask the Black Legionnare.

So, imagine my disappointment when he asks about the location of a guy I’ve never heard of. Sure, it’s not the author’s fault I’d never heard of Epimetheus before. But it still felt like abit of a let-down.

For those of you who don’t know, allow me to illuminate you.

Epimetheus was a former Dark Angel who went on to be one of the eight founding members of the Grey Knights. He was captured at the end of the Pandorax campaign by Abbadon and the Despoiler has been experimenting on his Grey Knight’s gene seed ever since.

I don’t really see how knowing his location would help Asmodai, as Epimetheus is almost certainly on some chaos planet in the Immaterium or locked up deep in the Vengeful Spirit. At the end of the Audio Drama, the Black Legionnare tells Asmodai where Epimetheus is, though we as an audience don’t get to hear. So now we know that Asmodai knows… great.

As you can tell, I don’t really like this audio drama, which is strange because normally I like anything CZ Dunn writes. This is just one of those exceptions I guess, every writer has a bad day and I doubt it took much longer than a day to write ‘The Rage of Asmodai’.
